Registered Massage therapy
What is registered massage therapy (RMT)?
Massage therapy consists primarily of hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, specifically, the muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints for the purpose of optimizing health. Massage therapy treatment has a therapeutic effect on the body and optimizes health and well-being by acting on the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems. The effects of physical and emotional stress can be relieved or prevented through the use of massage therapy.
Why should I see a registered massage therapist (RMT)?
There are many reasons to see a registered massage therapist, including:
Stress + anxiety relief
Maintenance of health
Improve recovery from strenuous activity
Facilitate the healing process
Should I book a massage, or should I see a chiropractor or physiotherapist?
If you have a chronic or acute injury, it may be best to book with a chiropractor or physiotherapist to resolve the issue. They will assess how you move and determine the root cause of the injury and assist you in preventing it from recurring once you are symptom free.
If you are looking for overall relief from tension throughout the body or in a particular area, a massage therapist can assist with this. Massage therapy often works well in conjunction with chiropractic and physiotherapy care to speed up the healing process.
Massage therapy at Ossington chiropractic?
There are many different types of massage techniques and each practitioner has their own philosophy and practice style. It is important to find a practitioner that meets your particular needs. Some are more focused on deep tissue work and others work more on activating the parasympathetic system.
