Cranialsacral therapy

What is Cranialsacral Therapy?
Cranialsacral therapy (CST) is a gentle hands on technique based on the rhythmical movement of the cranial bones in response to cerebrospinal fluid that circulates through the brain and nervous system. CST therapists are trained to use their hands as witnesses to subtle sensations in the body, identifying areas of dysfunction or restriction that can be addressed with CST techniques.

What are the benefits of CST?

  • Restore cranial rhythm
  • Release myofascial restrictions
  • Reposition misaligned bones
  • Settle the body into parasympathetic state

What can I expect during a treatment?
Patients remain fully clothed during treatment while the therapist uses gentle CST techniques to treat the body as a whole, including areas such as the spine, skull, diaphragms, and soft tissue. CST can also be incorporated with Swedish Massage Techniques and/or Medical Acupuncture.

What dysfunctions can be addressed with CST techniques?
CST may be helpful for various issues, including, but not limited to: anxiety, headaches, musculoskeletal pain and tension, myofascial restrictions, TMJ dysfunction, tinnitus, vertigo, insomnia, concussion symptoms, and stress.

Cranialsacral therapy can be incorporated into any massage therapy session at OCR.
