What is a Naturopathic doctor?
Naturopatic Medicine is a form of alternative medicine that is a part of primary healthcare, like family physicians, promoting wellness, illness and disease prevention. Naturopathic Doctors are trained in traditional Chinese medicine (including acupuncture and herbal medicine), homeopathic medicine, herbal medicine, clinical nutrition, psychology, and hydrotherapy.
Naturopathic doctors take an individualized approach to treating patients and may see them for a wide array of reasons including general checkups, acute concerns (cold/flu), chronic health concerns such as anxiety, diabetes and menopause, lifestyle improvement, nutritional guidance, allergy and sensitivity testing and homeopathy. Naturopathic medicine focuses on drug-less therapy, preventing surgery, speeding up recovery, reducing inflammation, and decreasing pain.
Naturopathic doctors take time to listen to their patients and may be able to put all their complaints into one theme to treat, as opposed to treating each individual disease or complaint separately. It's generally not a coincidence that a patient has many symptoms/complaints at the same time.
